Maybe you've tried Gel Plate printmaking, Silkscreen, or Linocut and want to go deeper with content and process?
Would you like to expand your approach towards imagemaking though printmaking?
Are you looking for ways to make both spontaneous prints and complex images simultaneously?
What if you could make a print that would use both gel plate and silkscreen on the same image or silkscreen and linocut?
In addition to challenging you visually, this workshop will further expand how you think about making prints. Topics that will be addressed include: how to combine multiple print processes that uses the unique characteristics of each process to achieve a unique image.
Class discussions will take place focusing on content, technique, experimentation, and how to approach printmaking from an intuitive perspective. My printmaking classes focus on thinking outside the box, and asking "what if" questions are encouraged and embraced.
The class will use a series of personal prompts that help you realize new ways of combining gel plate, linocut and silkscreen. The underlying theme behind the class is to learn new material, then take that material and create prints that become part of your personal vocabulary. While linocut, gel plate, and screen print monotype will be covered, you can decide which process fits your image or what you are trying to express. Maybe you're going to make prints that use gel plate and some silkscreen monotype. Much emphasis will be covered on each processes unique characteristics and direction as to why you may want to use a particular print process.
We will address each participant's work within the class and discuss best practices for moving the work forward.
In the five 90-minute live class discussions and lectures, demos and in-depth Q&A, you will broaden the foundation of your creative practice. This course will also include a resource guide identifying where to get the best materials and supplies as well as 3 months of access to the class recordings. Course is limited to 20 students.

"I will discuss how painting, drawing, and printmaking have a kinship that will help you flesh out and help to develop your print imagery. We will demystify technical material so it becomes part of an intuitive process, and creating and technique become seamless. I often combine print processes in my own work to achieve a unique vision."

Jeffrey Hirst fostered a learning environment that allowed for experimentation with various media. And if it worked out - fine, and if not, he exhibited great patience and encouragement for my trying it differently next time. I also appreciated his honest and candid feedback about my work. That is how I learn best. And finally, Jeff was personable with a great sense of humor. Our class had a wonderful week working with him.
