Maybe you've tried Gel Plate printmaking and want to go deeper with content and process?
Would you like to expand your approach towards imagemaking though printmaking ?
Are you looking for ways to make both spontaneous prints and complex images simultaneously?
In addition to challenging you visually, this workshop will further expand how you think about making prints. Topics that will be addressed include: how gel prints might translate to or become part of other works such as painting, sculpture, photography and installation.
Class discussions will take place focusing on content, technique, experimentation, and how to approach printmaking from an intuitive perspective. My printmaking classes focus on thinking outside the box, and asking "what if" questions are encouraged and embraced.
The class will use a series of personal prompts that help you realize new ways to create using gel plates. The underlying theme behind the class is to learn new material, then take that material and create gel prints that become part of your personal vocabulary.
We will address each participant's work within the class and discuss best practices for moving the work forward.
In the four 90-minute live class discussions and lectures, demos and in-depth Q&A, you will broaden the foundation of your creative practice. This course will also include a resource guide identifying where to get the best materials and supplies as well as 3 months of access to the class recordings. Course is limited to 20 students.
Topics and concepts covered in the course:

"I will discuss how painting, drawing, and printmaking have a kinship that will help you flesh out and help to develop your print imagery. We will demystify technical material so it becomes part of an intuitive process, and creating and technique become seamless."

Jeffrey Hirst fostered a learning environment that allowed for experimentation with various media. And if it worked out - fine, and if not, he exhibited great patience and encouragement for my trying it differently next time. I also appreciated his honest and candid feedback about my work. That is how I learn best. And finally, Jeff was personable with a great sense of humor. Our class had a wonderful week working with him.
